On Saturday May 17th, 2025, we posted an X Roll-Call for the % of Ontario corn and soybean acres planted up to the end of Sunday May 18th, 2025.
Soybeans - when it comes to planting progress, this crop varies the most across the province. Counties in Midwestern Ontario got a good start before the recent stretch of weather put the brakes on getting soybeans in the ground. Heavier clay soils closer to the lakeshore seem to be struggling with excess moisture to get a start at putting a fork in finishing this crop. With all respondents reporting, we are about 59% complete.
Corn - planting is mostly complete in many areas with higher elevations and lighter soil textures. These areas missed some of the earlier rain events that hit the southern part of Ontario along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Estimate that we are 83% complete as of Sunday, May 18th.
This was our 2nd roll call for the 2025 cropping season, and we look forward to your participation in future polls. These maps are built with data from both X survey participants and from our Cropwalker group of field observers.
Our next roll-call will be the weekend of Friday, May 30th.
Thank you to FMC for sponsoring our 2025 planting progress reports.
