This crop progress update is based upon an October 25th, 2019 Twitter roll call. For this harvest poll, we surveyed the percentage of acres Ontario corn and soybean growers had harvested by Sunday, October 27th.

Soybeans

Since the October 11th survey, a significant amount of the Ontario soybean crop has been harvested and put in the bin. There are a handful of areas with less than 90% harvested, mainly due to later planting, or the use of full season genetics. Counties that have significant acres to harvest are; Essex, Lambton and Niagara. Using the weighted average method, we estimate that 87% of Ontario soybean harvest was complete by October 27th.

Corn

Most areas haven't started as of October 27th, or have less than 5% of harvest complete. There is a significant amount off in the London to Woodstock to Stratford corridor based upon Twitter responses.  A few have indicated they have started in Hastings, Lennox/Addington, Russell/Prescott.
